Intern Section Inaugural Study Day Meeting, April 2012

The judging panel was impressed with the quality of the entries, which spanned a wide range of medical specialties and clinical sites. The RAMI Bronze Medal and Bursaries were awarded to three outstanding submissions.
Winners of medals:
- Dr. Rita Flaherty – A Complicated Spontaneous Nephrocutaneous Fistula and its Treatment (NUI Galway Intern Training Network) Platform Presentation
- Dr. Donna Cummins – An Evaluation of the Smoking Patterns of Outpatients Attending the Vascular Service of the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital Dublin between November 2011 and January 2012 and an Assessment of the Impact of the Smoking Cessation Service (UCD Intern Training Network) Platform Presentation
- Dr. Laura Heavey – Thyroid Function Tests: TSH Alone, Is it Adequate? (NUI Galway Intern Training Network) Poster Presentation

This being the first year to host such an event for this new Section of RAMI. All abstracts presented for the study day will be published online in the Irish Journal of Medical Science, the official organ of the Academy.
