Representative on General Council:

At a meeting of the General Council of the Royal Academy of Medicine in Ireland, held on Friday, January 31st 1969 a letter was read containing a proposal that a Section of Neurological Sciences should be formed.  Following discussion it was decided to enquire further as to the number of meetings proposed and the possibility of combining with an existing Section other details. The General Council then discussed correspondence at a following meeting held on Friday, February 28th 1969, with Dr. E. A. Martin who had suggested the formation of a Section, he considered that the proposal would probably have a wide appeal and could not be usefully included in any existing Section and in addition a separate Section might have the effect of clinical improvement and of stimulating research.  The request for the formation of a Section of Neurological Sciences which was before the General Council on January 31st 1969 was further discussed and agreed to on the proposal of Dr. Freeman, seconded by Dr. Shanley
